Track on Complexity in Organization, Management, and Economics at Social Simulation Conference 2024 (Cracow, Poland)

Call for contributions (pdf-version)

We invite you to submit a paper to the special track Complexity in Organization, Management, and Economics, to be held at the Social Simulation Conference 2024. This track provides a platform for researchers to share their insights and explore the latest advancements in the field of agent-based modelling and simulation. The conference will take place on September 16-20, 2024 in Cracow, Poland.

Over the years, agent-based modelling and simulation have become increasingly popular in the fields of management, organization, and economic sciences. This positive trend is due to the collaborative efforts of researchers across various disciplines, such as social sciences, physics, computer science, engineering, and psychology, who have successfully applied this method to solve complex problems. As technology advances, this stream of research continues to grow, offering new possibilities for research.

The special track has the objective to gather researchers interested in using agent-based modeling and simulation to address complex contemporary challenges in management, organization, and economic sciences. We welcome papers that explore recent developments, innovative applications, and future directions in this field.

Topics of interest are (but are not limited to):

  • Contemporary topics in management and organizational science: Organizational resilience and the use of digital twins.
  • Microeconomic agent-based models: Formation of market structures and the role of ABM in game theory.
  • Macroeconomic agent-based models: Examining economic crises, patterns of growth, social dynamics as, for example, caused by self-fulfilling prophecies, business cycles, and the effects of climate change and sustainability.
  • Simulating human behavior.
  • Group decision-making and collective intelligence.
  • Innovative hybrid methodologies for ABM.
  • Promoting transparency and ensuring reproducibility in agent-based models.
  • Innovating new approaches and solutions using ABM.

Submission

We welcome the submission of extended abstracts (3-4 pages) and short (6-9 pages) and full papers (10-12 pages). All submissions should include innovative and previously unpublished work. All submissions must be formatted using the LNCS template, which can be found here (LaTeX) and here (MS Word).

Accepted papers will be considered for publication in the proceedings (the Organizing Committee is in contact with Springer), unless the author(s) choose(s) otherwise. Additionally, a selection of the best full papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in JASSS (upon further review by the journal referees but with a special peer review track also involving some referees already reviewing the same papers at the conference).

Please submit your papers through the EasyChair system.
