PhD position – Longitudinal effects of online recommendations

We are excited to announce a new PhD opportunity in agent-based modeling and simulation at the University of Klagenfurt. This 4-year funded (75% employment) or 3-year funded (100% employment) position is part of the University’s Ada Lovelace programme, promoting interdisciplinary research.

The selected candidate will be an integral part of an ongoing interdisciplinary research project focusing on the long-term effects of recommender systems. The research delves into the impact of personalized recommendations on business value and user satisfaction across various online platforms. Employing an innovative simulation-based approach, the study aims to strike a balance between short-term revenue maximization and long-term customer retention. Additionally, it explores the dynamics of online information sharing and provider switching to optimize recommendations while meeting consumers’ individual needs and preferences.
