Agent-based modeling and simulation in management and economics: Opportunities, challenges, and prospects

We invite you to submit a paper to the special track on “Agent-based-modeling and simulation in management and economics: Opportunities, challenges, and prospects” to be held at the Social Simulation Conference 2022.

Over the last years, many efforts have been made to explore the potential of agent-based modeling and simulation in management and economics. This has been done by many researchers with a diversity of backgrounds, including the social sciences, physics, informatics, engineering, and psychology. The novel research approach has been employed to address many challenges with outstanding achievements. However, as the challenges the fields of economics and management face change and new opportunities are steadily emerging—e.g., new data and new approaches that are informed by recent technological developments—the fields of agent-based computational economics and agent-based computational management science are still in their development. The special track on “Agent-based-modeling and simulation in management and economics: Opportunities, challenges, and prospects” aims to explore how these recent developments impact the future of agent-based approaches in the fields of management and economics.

Topics of interest are (but are not limited to):

  • Big data and machine learning in ABM
  • Algorithmic management
  • Modeling human behavior
  • Resilience of complex adaptive systems
  • Collective intelligence platforms and applications
  • Mixed method approaches
  • Transparency and reproducibility
  • Robustness analysis
  • Innovative applications of agent-based modeling addressing further new issues
